Emerald comes from the Sanskrit word “marakata," which means spring green.  Recrystallization is a lab technique for purifying solids to separate a high-value crystalline product from unwanted impurities.  It is the process in which an initially solidified crystalline material is redissolved and crystallized again to produce the final product of the desired size, shape, purity, and yield.
